When Mandelbrot, Charles Wuorinen, Richard Voss and I were designing the "New York Notes" performance for the Guggenheim Museum we were concerned about the visual segues between deterministic fractal images, which tend to be gaudily colored, and our fractal landscape images, which have more muted, natural hues. I therefore made these three images to supplement "Candy" in this role of transition between brightly colored abstracts and landscape renderings.

Getting the colors right isn't as easy as it might seem. It takes some care to get a pleasing resonance between the two main hues in the image.
